Tetra Vaal Law Enforcing Military Robot

This great video has been gaining some attention on the Internet recently. The concept is believable and to be honest, the implications that we already created an artificial form of life aren’t far off either.

But for anyone with some tech know how, or for those who never believe any to-good-to-be-true video clip, it was never a reality, more of a great piece of CGI.

Although the human race has yet to come up with something quite so technological advanced, it is clear that in this day and age, it is almost impossible to tell the difference between the computer-generated material and the real footage.

Even though the Tetra Vaal seemed a little far-fetched, I had to watch the clip a couple of times before logic got the better of my amazement! Perhaps if I hadn’t been aware of the standards of todays CGI and video editing, I may have even thought this clip was real….I’m sure some people out there did!

And although the idea of a law enforcing military robot is certainly not original, the clip is surely the best and most realistic vision on the future of artificial intelligence we have seen so far.

The video was created by the folks over at The Embassy Visual Effects Inc. and was directed by Neill Blomkamp.

If you have been digging the social news over the last month, then you have probably come across an article explaining how to reveal blocked caller ID info. The original post was comprehensive and gained a lot of attention with internet geeks and IT technicians, but being as it was a little over my head, I have to admit finding the video version made it a lot easier to share this news with you all!

The video shows how you can use an enterprise-spec asterisk box and a SIP trunk provider to reveal a blocked caller ID. Whilst this hack may infringe on certain security laws, we though it would be interesting to share. However 800HighTech can not be held responsible for your actions and in no way condone the use of this hack for any reason which may be considered damaging or illegal.

The New ATI Radeon HD 4800 Graphics Card

There is a lot to talk about when reviewing AMD’s ATI Radeon HD 4800 graphics card. With the addition of a new Custom Filtering AA technology, AMD have brought the “power of graphics super computing to gamers,” setting a new standard in visual computing with break though technology that doesn’t compromise performance.

ATI Radeon HD 4800 Series Graphics Card From AMD

The new ATI HD 4800 boasts more than twice the power of previous generation AMD graphics cards, allowing the user to take HD gaming to the extreme.

So how does the HD 4800 manage its super powerful processing? With a new TeraScale graphics engine, combined with one teraflops of power, 800 stream processors and a next gen’ GDDR5 memory, AMD’s new HD 4800 is able to propel you deep into a new world of gameplay with seamless frame rates and high resolutions.

One of the key features behind the ATI HD 4800’s high quality graphics is the inclusion of a new Edge-detect Custom Filtering AntiAliasing (CFAA). Previous generations of Edge-detecting filters taxed memory bandwidth, and previous support filters “Narrow-Tent” and “Wide-Tent,” actually had a negative impact on the overall image quality. With a new Edge-detect filter, the ATI HD 4800 is able to increase sample rates to produce better moving images without blurring.

Not only can the ATI HD 4800 play Blu-ray movies and HD content with incredible visual fidelity, it can actually upscale HD resolutions above the highest quality 1080p, and with AMD’s new break-through platform-independent intelligent power management, the ATI HD 4800 does all of this whilst using less power then ever before.

With all these top-notch specifications and break through technologies, the ATI HD 4800 is able to deliver the freedom and flexibility to edit videos quickly, converting raw data to H.264 and MPEG-2 formats around 1.8x faster than real-time.

Frat Party Beer Pong is Underrated

July 31, 2008 | Author: Ree | 297 Views | Email Email | Print Print

A new online game which is available as a download for the popular Nintendo Wii console, is causing controversy in the state of Connecticut.

The Wii game called “Frat Party Games: Beer Pong” has been rated suitable for people aged 13+, and Connecticut attorney general is not impressed.

Frat Party Game Beer Pong

“Beer Pong” is based on popular college drinking game where competitors toss a ping pong ball into the opposing players cup. If one player gets the ball in the cup, the other must guzzle down their beer. The game was designed by Las Vegas-based JV Games Inc. and was released as a download for the Nintendo Wii in June.

Richard Blumenthal, said last Monday that the Entertainment Software Rating Board made a mistake clearing the game for young teenagers and voiced his worries that the other yet-to-be-released Frat Party Games - which are in the pipeline - will also be approved for the same age group of gamers.

JV Games Vice President Jag Jaeger, informed Blumenthal last month that the company would rename the game “Pong Toss” dropping all references to alcohol, and although it took JV Games a month to get round it, Beer Pong has now been re-title on Wii website.

Blumenthal who believes the game glorifies “alcohol abuse and binge drinking” was pleased with decision but not entirely happy with the trend that may follow the Frat Party theme.

“We stopped this game, but that is only a minor victory if it is followed by others,”

Jaege said the video game was never about alcohol, simply a virtual version of the growing sport known as beer pong which actually eliminates the need for any real drinking. The “real” sport has become so popular over the recent years there is even a World Series of Beer Pong held on Las Vegas where contestants go head to head for $50,000 of prize money.

A series of internet videos from Playboy have been causing a stir amongst the guys recently. The videos show model Jo Garcia working out on the Wii Fit wearing exactly what you’d expect from a Playboy Model, very little.

Playboy model Jo Garcia is a self confessed gamer, she open admits to being a computer geek and says she would rather stay at home with her PS3 than go out to live the wild glam life style of a model. Shes also claim the title of “Cyber Girl Of The Year,” beating out 52 weeks of rival models in an online-only competition.

“People don’t understand that that the whole gaming world is not just for geeks, and assume that every person who plays video games is a geek that wears glasses,”
“It’s a misnomer that needs to be put to rest.”

Garcia also tells how she loves to play Nintendo DS and PSP,

“It’s something that I carry with me everywhere, like some people carry their iPods. It’s the norm to me. I’ve had people send me messages like, ‘oh you play video games?’ And I’m like, ‘why are you so surprised?”

As far as Garcia is concerned, gaming is one of the best things in life,

“If I could get a job… being a game tester, I would do that all day long.”

These internet video’s from Playboy, showing Jo working out on the Wii Fit system, have been gaining popularity on the net, and its not really difficult to see why.

Watch what happens when you put different things in the microwave. Items that get fried include soap, a ping pong ball, a lit match, a CD and gunpowder.

I have always love sticking things in the microwave and watching what happens, unfortunately my parents did not find it as interesting.

Putting random things in the microwave can yield pleasing visual results, but be warned; there is an element of danger involved. 800HighTech can not be held responsible for your own actions!

Soap

Watch as the bar of soap morphs and grows, almost filling the half of the microwave.

Gunpowder

This is one you definitely should not try at home! Gunpowder turns your microwave into an improvised bomb.

CD

Check out this amazing display of light as a CD sizzles and crackles in the microwave.

Match and Glass

This little set up produces more amazing fireworks. Half way into the clip burning plasma jumps from the flame engulfing the glass, soon causing it to smash.

Ping Pong Ball

The guys who made this video didn’t allow enough time for the desired effect the first time round. The ping pong ball begins to morph and melt but then the timer stops….

The guys immediately go for it again and the results…well they speak for themselves! A fiery explosion indeed.
