1 Terrabyte Optical Disk Data Storage

The forthcoming TeraDisk (developed by Mempile) promises to leave Blu-ray in its wake by offer a massive 1TB (1000GB) of space on a regular sized (CD/DVD) optical disk.

How it this possible? Existing optical media records and reads data on semi-transparent layers; a CD uses just one layer, whilst Blu-Ray uses up to eight. The layers are restricted to a certain depth because as the light passes through, it becomes distorted and unable to read/write.The TeraDisk uses 200 layers, each storing 5GB of data. The disks are made from the same Plexiglas material used in other disks so the support will stay the same; it is only the read and write technology which will be new.
“Teradisk uses traditional chemical synthesis along with advanced quantum mechanical calculations and cutting-edge photophysical laboratory experiments to design molecularly-engineered nonlinear optical chromophores”
In laymen’s terms, the chromophores which are injected into the layers change their chemical structure upon the two-photon interaction with red laser. This change causes the two-photon fluorescence signal to modulate without affecting the liner optical properties of the material. Thus allowing for massively multilayer data to be accessed on what appears to be a regular optical disk
The molecules have been optimized not only for their two-photon response, but also for other desired capabilities such as data lifetime, cost, chemical stability, and processability (for manufacturing).
Developers say the new technology will be cheap and should be available to the public in 2010.

The digital age is here and has been for some time now. The computer interface we have come to know has become boring and in my opinion out-dated. It no longer gives a sense of high tech or advanced. It is a 2-D mundane layout that has me missing the days of old when my desk was in a chaotic and cryptic mess that only I understood. Well, programmers feel the same and they are taking this boring interface to the next level!
This is a great idea and a fun interface. Some problems with it however is you do not see the file names that distinguish file types from one another and you are not able to see a thumbnail preview of a picture or document like in new Windows environment. I am sure these bugs can be worked out and the program will be much better once it gets to the serious stage.
If you remember the Photosync Technology and Microsoft Surface environment, this interface is quickly adapting and evolving. I am ready for the change now - hopefully it becomes mainstream soon.

Storage and disk space have always been a problem since computers were first invented. Organizing files, creating compilation music CDs, cataloging your movie collection, and backing up your files that you hope will be available when you need them; all consume large amounts of your vital virtual reality. Now if that wasn’t enough, after we have gone through all the trouble of moving all these files around, we have to make sure we bring the right CD or thumb drive at the time they are needed. Being randomly deployed and stationed at various bases has only added to the trouble. Thanks to the advancement of fast internet, there is actually a solution that helps organize your files and have all your files at a moments notice known as online storage.

Some sites require you to login and access the files. However, if you really wanted to do this correctly you would create a network drive to a dedicated server, so all you had to do a was click an icon to access the folders. But this requires a lot of money to make sure you have good server with a fast connection and that was very secure and maintained properly. Well with IBackUp all of your storage needs are finally resolved and you have the ability to secure personal data online while having the ability to access your files easily anywhere!

Sorry, YouTube and How Stuff Works said it was evil to have their video available to the general public and the videos were taking down. So you are left with the following video:
I like YouTube and I like How Stuff Works - but man - they are so big now and have become overcome with legalese and rules. Another thing ruined, but you can not stop progression. Napster - LimeWire - Bit Torrents - YouTube - Google - Linux have all contributed and spawned out in so many directions that I do not understand why they even attempt to stop it. I think it looks bad on them. Instead they should focus on being dynamic and adjusting to the flow.
Time will tell ….

During a family member’s, who is a former Marine, recent vacation in the Richmond area, he met a family who had pulled into the same motel. They had a Marine Corps sticker on their vehicles so obviously he was interested to learn when he had served. He said that he hadn’t but that his son had and was killed in Iraq recently. He then told him about what the program below, and then told me about it. Maybe you can send some small items maybe you can’t. But this is non-political and a small way to show support. Surfing across the web I came across some information about some ideas and concoctions brewing over at Microsoft Live Lab. For those of you who can appreciate Google Earth, Vector Imaging, EBooks, and Visual Media in general will definitely appreciate the technology and the endless capabilities behind Seadragon’s goals.
The goal of Seadragon is to alter the way users use valuable screen reality without affecting quality and bandwidth. This is a critical concern for mobile users and the eventual evolution of the internet. Visual information can be smoothly browsed regardless of the size of a file or your network’s bandwidth.
