Another installment of the Guitar Hero Series, just as popular as the previous versions and it is not difficult to see why.

The newest version of the Guitar Hero series hit the stores late last year and has been causing a storm ever since. Developed by Neversoft and Aspyr Media, and published by Activision and RedOctane, Legends of Rock is the third full installment in the Guitar Hero series and the fourth title overall.

The game is available for the PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Wii, Xbox 360, PC, and Mac platforms. Xbox 360, Wii, and Playstation 3 users can also connect online to rock out with others anywhere in the world. As with the previous Guitar Hero games, the player can use standard controllers or a new wireless guitar-shaped controller specially designed for the game.

The gameplay in Guitar Hero 3 remains essentially the same, with the player guiding the guitarist through the varying genres of rock music by hitting the notes in time as they scroll across the screen. One notable addition to the game is the new cooperative career mode. The co-op mode is arranged similarly to the single player career, with one player on lead guitar and the other on bass or rhythm guitar. In this mode you’ll find just 6 tiers of songs - each encore song is unique to the co-op mode but the boss battles have been removed.
The co-op storyline portrays the vocalist and drummer looking for a guitarist and bassist. The band makes a video and soon become popular. They get a gig in Japan but difference between the original members put the band on a 3 month hiatus. In the bands comeback performance, the pyrotechnics start a fire in the neighborhood and the members get sent to jail.
Lou decides he will bail them out but only if they agree to play for the inmates, however when the band leaves prison they are sent to Lou’s “Inferno”, where they must then find their way out by playing a live show.
The game features over great 60 songs, many of which, in contrast to previous games, are master tracks, for any partial to a bit of rock, the sound track is quite amazing.

Top guitarists featured as characters in the game include Tom Morello (of Rage Against the Machine/Audioslave) and Slash (of Guns N’ Roses/Slash’s Snakepit/Velvet Revolver). The PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 versions also include Bret Michaels (Poison).Wii users will find few extra features since the game utilizes the Wii Remote’s wireless capabilities and accelerometer, as well as making use of the rumble feature and the internal speaker. The internal speaker on the Wii Remote makes a nice little effect when incorrect notes are hit; and the Wii Remote’s rumble feature is utilized when Star Power mode is activated.
All in all the game remains largely the same, with a new great sound track and a few new additions. Any fans of the previous versions of Guitar Hero 3 will certainly be entertained once again with Guitar Hero 3: Legends Of Rock.
